Sports Physiotherapy

Picture
At Holistic Health Physio I treat a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries caused either by sport or by other means. For me it all starts with your alignment and how you are loading. If you aren't loading correctly through both feet and each joint above, you can't expect joints to work efficiently and to the best of their abilities. Something generally gives and then you feel pain.

I start my assessments by looking at the whole body and how each area relates to the other. If I correct one Mal-alignment, how does it effect the other areas?

A lot of the time the area in pain is not the area that needs treatment and it's my job to work out where it all starts from and what the driver is. By treating this driver, I will effectively be treating all the areas it effects.

This method of assessment was developed by LJ Lee, a Canadian physio who developed the Integrated Systems Model. I trained using her techniques in 2016 and I wouldn't /couldn't go back to traditional methods of treating the area of pain / injury only. I believe in looking at the bigger picture and all the factors which may be effecting the patient's recovery.
